Lori Watkins of Black Creek Crossing is pleased to announce that Vested Pine has been tested N/N by Cornell University for the hereditary disease HERDA; Hereditary Equine Regional Dermal Asthenia, a term favored by researchers for Hyperelastosis Cutis (HC). N/N means that Vested Pine is Homozygous for the normal gene. He does not possess the disease-causing Herda gene. When a horse has HC, there is a lack of adhesion within the dermis, the deep layer of skin, due to a collagen defect. Poco Bueno is the sire line through which this disease has been traced. Congratulations DeGraff Stables/Liberty Farm in receiving certification from the USDA for shipping frozen semen to the European Union! The USDA has given us approval and has forwarded their findings to Europe. We now await their listing of our facility upon their next update of approved companies.

Bill Kaven was recently made aware that his 2007 contract and associated breeding fees were still posted on Vested Asset's website. This has caused some confusion regarding breeding fees and any available discounts. Bill announced that he would roll back the fee to the 2007 level and honor the pricing as found by mare owners. "Puzzles" 2008 fee will be $850 as previously advertised and we are sorry if there has been any inconvenience.

Amy and Jeffery Meredith announce that Custom Invitation has been busy in February 'stock piling' frozen semen for any breedings for mare owners this season. Steve Heckaman stated that he had previously advertised an increase in stud fee for the 2008 season for Potential Investment. He said that due to the econominc conditions that exist today, that he is pleased to announce that he would like to help aid mare owners by keeping the stud fee for "Martin" at the 2007 rate. Potential Investment will stand for $2,500 instead of the currently advertised $3,000 fee.
