A Clean, Healthy & Safe Environment
From northern Ohio, DeGraff Stables, in business since 1985, relocated to historic Midway, Kentucky in 2008 and now operates at Liberty Farm, formerly Stockwood Farm; home of Kentucky Derby winners and Thoroughbred Champions.

This farm represents the best in advanced reproduction facilities available to the World-Class Champions and Champion producing Stallions that reside here for breeding via shipped cooled or frozen semen, or, for on-farm insemeninations to the phenomenal broodmares as booked to them.

You will find us in Midway, halfway between Lexington and Frankfort; the capital of Kentucky. We are only 15 minutes west of I-75 and just off of I-64. Our convenient location which have great access roads… place us not only in the heart of the rolling hills full of Kentucky Bluegrass, but also in the heart of horse country.

Surrounded by professionals dedicated to improving care of the horse, we are minutes from the highly respected medical and surgical care full-service equine hospitals of Rood & Riddle, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute and Park Equine Hospital. The Kentucky Horse Park, home to the 2010 World Equestrian Games and the graceful Keeneland Race Track are nearby as well.

About our farm and facility… Join us with our reproduction partners; Dr. John Park of Park Equine Hospital, Dr. Karen Wolfsdorf of Hagyard Equine Medical Center and Select Breeders and Dr. Connie Brown from Lexington as we team together to provide assisted reproductive techniques for our own DeGraff Stables mares and the stallions that stand at our Stallion Station. Mare services to outside mares is limited to haul-in on-farm inseminations by appointment. Stallion services include fertility examinations, semen analysis, shipped cooled semen and semen freezing. Both our Kentucky and Ohio facilitys are USDA certified for shipments of frozen semen to not only the European Union, but Australia and New Zealand as well.
The DeGraff Stables mares and mares with foals are currently housed in two barns with 37 stalls, all 12 X 12 or larger. Many stalls are camera monitored and a new lighting system has been installed. Upgraded flooring with fitted and sealed rubber mats are found in all barns. The stall walls are annually painted for ease in disfecting the stalls. We have over 26 paddocks and pastures that offer individual or group turnout, many with newly constructed run-in sheds for outdoor protection. All paddocks and pastures have automatic water units. The storage barn has two quarantine stalls in the event of need.

Located on 127 acres, our focus is safe breeding and management of the horses placed in our care. All horses are managed on our feeding schedule which includes complete feed and water every 8 hours; 7am, 4pm and 10pm at night. Other amenities to be found in both mare barns is that they are equipped with their own palpation chutes complete with foal holding areas, a fully networked and computerized laboratory and current state-of-the-art equipment. We are staffed with competent and caring individuals who do not believe that fertility and breeding is just a job. That we have a purpose; and that purpose is the ‘art of breeding’.

The stallions are housed in an 18-stall show barn of large, airy 14 X 14 stalls. Each stallion is carefully groomed, exercised and monitored daily. The collection and semen processing center truly offers the benefit of consistent quality and improved efficiencies. Our goal is happy customers with pregnant mares! We are very proud of how our facility has grown and work daily to maintain a clean, healthy and safe environment for our animals.
